    An immersive experience based around Alebrijes and how they came to be. Using UV lights accompanied by a mystical soundscape, the Jungle comes to life in an array of colorful chaos.

    Get a glimpse of the SDCT's Spring 2023 Showcase. For the first time, the Department of Design joined forces with the Department of Arts and Entertainment Technologies for a unique gathering of Austin’s creative community.

  • Tower Tumble

    For the first time in school history, the UT Tower was transformed into an interactive video game screen through projection mapping produced by an Arts and Entertainment student in collaboration with faculty.

  • Starlight Scrappers

    Starlight Scrappers is a classic space shoot-em-up arcade game featuring asymmetrical co-op gameplay with an emphasis on teamwork and communication. Two players must work together to man their spaceship, dodging obstacles and taking down enemies sent by the evil Squirrel King. Do you think you have what it takes?

  • Spellslingers

    Welcome to the International Multidimensional Wizard Tournament! Competitors from far and wide have come to test their mettle through magical dueling. This Alt Ctrl arcade game and cabinet was created by AET students in the "Next Level Arcade" course. 

  • 2nd Annual VJ Battle: Audiopixelcollider

  • Cosmic Cooking

    Cosmic Cooking is a 2D sci-fi simulation game produced for AET Senior Design Project that follows the life of an intergalactic chef, Margo. Follow her on her journey as she learns out-of-this-world recipes, explores new dimensions, and becomes the greatest chef in the universe.

  • Live Event Engineering Class Presentations

    In Matt Smith's Fall 2019 Live Event Engineering class, students programmed light and projection shows to a song of their choice. Watch some of the presentations in this compilation video.

  • Mountain Spirit

    A mountain spirit takes a peaceful morning walk in the great outdoors. This student-created animation takes inspiration from the painterly style of Studio Ghibli and the traditional rice hats and hanfu clothing of China.

  • Automaton

    Automaton was created for the 3D Capstone course during a single semester using agile development methodologies to simulate the game development process of a small studio. It is a Survival Horror game that follows the storyline of a girl that is looking for her missing brother in a mansion where an evil scientist resides with his rather unsuccessful experiments.

  • Qualified Immunity

    Qualified Immunity, a single-player 2D isometric mystery-solving game where the player takes on the role of a young, new police officer in Colander City. As the player works through the cases assigned to them, they will slowly uncover secrets rooted deep within the police department itself, pushing the player to make decisions and compromise between morality and justice.

  • Training Warehouse for 3D Game Environment

    3D environment in Unreal Engine 5 of an old garage converted for tactical training gets additional props including a utility truck and structural details to ready it for use in an FPS game. 

  • Cat and Rat Zodiac Narrative Enclosure

    This enclosure retells the origin behind the Chinese Zodiac: a rat betrays a cat in order to deter the cat from finishing the race, with a focus on the specific moment where they choose to cross the river. Everyone can learn more about the Chinese Zodiac from this enclosure story!

  • ARRR.duino

    At the MIT Reality Hack 2022, Zane Giordano built ARRR.duino, a cross-platform AR circuit design tool designed to teach younger students how to build basic circuits with Arduino.

  • Ghost Hunter Hunter

    As the ghost, you can phase through walls, ceilings, and the floor to navigate your house while possessing objects to scare away ghost hunters. Successfully freaking out the ghost hunters will result in a successful night, while getting documented too much will result in your capture.

  • AET Class of 2020 Showcase

    View final projects from Class of 2020 Arts and Entertainment Technologies graduates, including game design, music and sound, 2D and 3D art, and more.

  • Lens of Empathy

    Lens of Empathy gives the player a glimpse of what it’s like to have a different identity that shapes the types of privileges you have. The experience provides current statistics on these disadvantages and the player will become cognizant of the privileges they hold and show empathy for those that don’t have those privileges. 

  • UT Tower 3D Projection Mapping

    A 3D projection-mapped, interactive model of The Tower at the University of Texas at Austin gets illuminated with '80s synthwave graphics and an interactive dance element made possible by an Xbox Kinect.

  • Concert and Event Lighting Class Projects

    AET students in Matt Smith's Concert and Event Lighting class visited High End Systems' demo room in Spring 2018 to display their end-of-semester projects. The added challenge? They had to draw songs out of a bowl and then create lighting effects in real time as the song played.

  • The Making of Evolution in 2022

    Evolution is a collaborative design laboratory facilitating interdisciplinary experimentation in dance performance. Concert and event lighting designers from the School of Design and Creative Technologies join with choreographers from the Department of Theatre and Dance and composers from the Butler School of Music to create short performances.

  • VJ Battle 2017: Audiopixelcollider

    Audiopixelcollider was the College of Fine Arts' first VJ Battle, a live performance by visual artists and lighting designers showcasing their VJing skills to original, student-produced music.

  • BTS “Dynamite” Fan-Animated Music Video

    After taking Principles of Animation, Hari learned how to rotoscope and reanimated her favorite music video for "Dynamite" by K-pop band BTS with her own vision and style.


  • Woodland Digital Pet

    This little stump holds an even tinier mouse friend inside! As a semester-long independent study, Nada Aburayyan set out to create a digital friend/pet toy like the ones from her childhood and the early 2000s. Learn more about AET '22 graduate Nada Aburayyan and her project, "Woodland Digital Pet."

  • Ambrosia Princess Desk

    Independent project created with the fundamentals taught Professor Isaac Oster's 3D Materials and Lighting class. All models and textures are optimized and game-ready. Brought to life in Unreal 5 with Blueprints and Niagara particle systems.

  • In My Shoes

    In My Shoes is an interactive narrative, where the player finds themselves unraveling various cultural backgrounds as a result of choice made and ultimately broadening their horizons. It signifies the importance of diversity and the necessity of treating everyone as equals.
