Shifting Winds

Every researcher had mentors who helped assimilate them into a life of scholarly work, and the process continues with their future mentees. These comprise the roots and branches of the academic tree of a single researcher. If we let these ancestors’ and descendants’ genders affect these trees like a “wind,” most curl nearly to the earth. To set these trees growing upright again we visualize giving differential weight to male and female researchers.
Cig Harvey: Blue Violet

Blue Violet is a book of deeply personal and lush photographs, drawings, and writing by Cig Harvey. It was a labor of joy for Design Professor Jeanette Abbink to interweave Harvey's lush, color-saturated photography with a motley of textual forms on French-fold style pages bound within the moody printed cloth hardcover.
Ears, Eyes + Feet features projection design from AET students

In spring 2018, students in Sven Ortel & Matthew Smith’s class AET 329: Media Creation for Live Performance designed projection lighting for performances in Ears, Eyes + Feet.
The Inaugural In The Arena Award

Students from the Department of Design, under the guidance of Assistant Professor Jiwon Park, designed and constructed the physical award for the LBJ School of Public Affairs’ new In The Arena award. The inaugural award was presented to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in November 2018.

Ghost Hunter Hunter

As the ghost, you can phase through walls, ceilings, and the floor to navigate your house while possessing objects to scare away ghost hunters. Successfully freaking out the ghost hunters will result in a successful night, while getting documented too much will result in your capture.
Cosmic Cooking

Cosmic Cooking is a 2D sci-fi simulation game produced for AET Senior Design Project that follows the life of an intergalactic chef, Margo. Follow her on her journey as she learns out-of-this-world recipes, explores new dimensions, and becomes the greatest chef in the universe.

Cat and Rat Zodiac Narrative Enclosure

This enclosure retells the origin behind the Chinese Zodiac: a rat betrays a cat in order to deter the cat from finishing the race, with a focus on the specific moment where they choose to cross the river. Everyone can learn more about the Chinese Zodiac from this enclosure story!
UT Tower 3D Projection Mapping

A 3D projection-mapped, interactive model of The Tower at the University of Texas at Austin gets illuminated with '80s synthwave graphics and an interactive dance element made possible by an Xbox Kinect.
Training Warehouse for 3D Game Environment

3D environment in Unreal Engine 5 of an old garage converted for tactical training gets additional props including a utility truck and structural details to ready it for use in an FPS game.
Mountain Spirit

A mountain spirit takes a peaceful morning walk in the great outdoors. This student-created animation takes inspiration from the painterly style of Studio Ghibli and the traditional rice hats and hanfu clothing of China.
