This summer, SDCT tackled record-breaking temperatures and swept industry-leading awards. Jiabao Li (Assistant Professor of Design) won Outstanding Instructor at the Biodesign Challenge Summit (BDC) 2023. Her student Brad Hakes (M.F.A. in Design) secured Runner-Up for the competition with his project “Orbweaver.”

Luminaria, the San Antonio-based nonprofit dedicated to producing an annual event and promoting the arts, has announced AET Assistant Professor of Practice Yuliya Lanina as one of more than 40 artists who will be featured in its 15th contemporary arts festival.

In her new multimedia installation 'Mother/Land,' now on view at the Austin Public Library, Lanina processes the personal impact of the Ukrainian invasion.

What was initially inspired by a poem grew into an in-depth and unique exhibition titled Perception Omnifold by international artist and professor Jiabao Li. Li explores the augmentation, alterations, and curations of worldview through interpretations of interspecies co-creation, technology, and biology.

The Aspiring Leaders Academy focuses on tenured faculty who are interested in leadership opportunities, but have not yet served in a major leadership position. AET Assistant Professor Yuliya Lanina’s exhibition, Mother/Land, delves into the artist’s complex and personal relationship with the war in Ukraine. Through animation, sculpture, and installation, Lanina continues her introspective exploration of the emotional and physical impact of war and trauma.

Indiana State University Art Galleries have announced "Perception Omnifold," an exhibition by Design Professor Jiabao Li. The exhibition runs Aug. 21 through Sept. 22 in the Yang Family University Art Gallery.
