Why did you choose your major?

During orientation I told my advisor what types of things I was interested in (art, animation, video games, etc.) and she told me about the AET program that was still being developed at the time. I decided to take the intro classes and I knew that it was the right major for me.

What's been your biggest surprise in your program?

The biggest surprise has been the amount of different classes there are. The AET program has classes within the gaming, music technology, and new performance technology fields. Also, you don’t have to stick with just one emphasis, but can form your own plan and tailor it to your interests.

What project are you most proud of during your time at UT, and why?

I’m most proud of my gaming projects. The game dev classes at UT simulate an industry experience where you get to work in teams and create a video game. As an artist, I spent a lot of time developing the world and characters within these games and can say I’m proud of the work I put in.

What do you hope to do after graduation?

After graduating, I hope to pursue a career in the video game industry as an artist.

Any advice for incoming freshmen in AET?

The Foundry in the Fine Arts Library has a lot of resources for AET majors to use such as a recording studio and 3D printers. I really encourage students to use these tools throughout their stay at UT.
