Alexis Strong Artusi is a researcher, operator, and designer who stumbled upon her love of healthcare service and experience design through a decidedly nontraditional career path. Alexis earned her B.A. in Healthcare Policy from Duke University and her Master of Management in Hospitality from Cornell University. She spent the early part of her career managing hotel operations with The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company; consulting with PwC's Health Industries Advisory - Customer Impact Practice; and building patient-centered services with Docent Health.
In 2017, Alexis returned to Cornell University to complete her Ph.D. in Service Operations Management with a focus on health and wellness environments. Her research agenda was developed in partnership with The Cornell Institute for Healthy Futures, a collaboration between the School of Hotel Administration, the Sloan Program in Health Administration, and the Department of Design and Environmental Analysis. Alexis studied the intersection of hospitality, health, and design with particular emphasis on health consumer behavior, experience design in health environments, service cultures and service implementation, and the business impact of relationship-centered care models. Most recently, Alexis was the Director of Service Design at Harbor Health where she led the development of a consumer engagement model for a new value-based, multi-specialty care model here in Austin.
