New School of Design and Creative Technologies Launches at UT Austin’s College of Fine Arts

In a move aimed to support the need for creative professionals in the business, nonprofit and government worlds, The University of Texas at Austin has created the School of Design and Creative Technologies.

If This Then That: 2018 Design MFA Thesis Exhibition

BFA and MFA Design Thesis shows opening at Visual Arts Center

Come explore two new exhibitions at the Visual Arts Center featuring the work of students in the Department of Design. "If This Then That" features the work of graduating M.F.A in Design students, and "Catalyst:" features the work of B.F.A. in Design seniors. The exhibitions open April 20 and run through May 11.

Meet our first class of graduating AET seniors

We'd like to introduce you to some of our students who will be the first to graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Arts and Entertainment Technologies (AET) in the School of Design and Creative Technologies. All of these students transferred from other UT departments into the major or added it as a second major since it opened for enrollment in fall 2015. In their project-based coursework, these students were able to focus with the three emphasis areas of the major: Music & Sound, Game and Mobile Media Applications (GAMMA) and New Performance Technologies.

UT team reaches finals at Intel University Games Showcase

A team of students in the 2-D capstone class of the Game and Mobile Media Applications (GAMMA) Program reached the finals last week at the Intel University Games Showcase at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, California.

Lorenzo, the Assistant Dean for UT's School of Design and Creative Technologies, is recognized as a top innovator in Texas for her leading role in the design-thinking movement. "We want to create good people who can go out to the world and do things, whether for profit or nonprofit, that are good. That's how you change the world."
