Brooks Protzmann, M.A.

Brooks Protzmann is Design Program Director at IBM where he leads a group of designers, design researchers and front-end developers that helps bring new artificial intelligence products to market. Before IBM, Brooks was a Creative Director at frog design in Austin where he helped large companies invent their future. In the early 2000s, Brooks moved to Austin to build a design group at Dell that focused on customer experience with its products, including packaging, branding, software, and documentation.

Brooks is a product designer that has always been interested in the intersection of hardware, software and people. He is a regular lecturer at the Art Center in Pasadena, California, where he speaks to graduate and undergraduate students.

Brooks received a B.F.A. in Industrial Design from the University of Kansas in 1990 and an M.A. in Interaction Design, also from KU, in 2006.

When not working, Brooks is also an avid maker, painter and tinkerer.
